Nexus may not be the most conclusive of the Ratchet and Clank titles, but it is a (mostly) charming sendoff to years of PS3 gaming. After a daring orbital jailbreak at the forgotten edge of the galaxy, Ratchet and Clank find themselves lost in an abandoned sector. Its $30 / £20 price tag makes it a great incentive to pick it up, and it delivers what you’d expect from the series. Yeah, it’s pretty short, but those are some good five hours that’ll remind you of why you fell in love with Ratchet and Clank in the first place. PlayStation’s beloved duo returns with an original single-player adventure, an epilogue to the acclaimed Ratchet and Clank Future.
The series is noted for the inclusion of exotic and unique locations and over the top gadgets, a concept of the traditional Ratchet & Clank experience, that returns in this game. It is the thirteenth game in the Ratchet & Clank series and the fourth and final installment in the 'Future' series. Nexus’s conclusion is weak and its cliffhanger ending only seems to exist to build up momentum for future adventures. Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus is a 2013 platform video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. At one point, you travel through a museum that highlights some major victories and characters in the series, but they don’t provide any major significance in the story. Some serious moments of reflection let you feel for Ratchet and his friends, but are then brushed off and forgotten.
Unfortunately, this well-crafted adventure ends too abruptly and doesn’t give our heroes complete closure. The beloved duo return with an original single-player epilogue to the acclaimed Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time. Think of Nexus as the end of an adventure, a tying of loose ends after years of games on the PlayStation 3. At least we know that if Insomniac continues to make Ratchet and Clank games for Sony, the NC team greatly improved with their performance making R&C games if Nexus is any indication it only felt lacking due to the iffy frame rate and short length, otherwise it was a really good game.
